The Kansas Science Festival connects Kansas communities by sharing diverse approaches to knowing and practicing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics), recognizing that science exists beyond research institutions. Each April, a street festival in downtown Manhattan features STEAM activities led by research scientists, businesses, educators, and STEAM practitioners. The Kansas Science Festival aligns with the Manhattan Community Health Foundation’s objectives by:
- Fostering collaboration between hospital leaders, local organizations, and stakeholders to address health and wellness challenges collectively through health-related exhibits, activities, and information booths.
- Increasing community awareness of health and wellness issues through educational activities, such as presentations and activities related to nutrition, exercise, and disease prevention.
