The Manhattan Community Health Foundation is proud to support Jessi Ebert on her journey to becoming a Registered Nurse (RN). Jessi’s passion for nursing is deeply personal, inspired by her own life experiences and her dedication to helping others. Thanks to this scholarship, she is able to continue her education and work toward her long-term goals. We had the opportunity to learn more about Jessi’s path and what motivates her.
Jessi’s commitment to nursing is clear in her words about her journey and the impact this scholarship has on her future.
What inspired you to pursue a career in nursing? Losing my brother when I was 16 was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. I was a junior in high school, just starting to figure out my future. During my senior year, I realized that nursing would be a meaningful way to honor him. Caring for people every day is something I know he would be proud of, and that drives me forward.
How has this scholarship helped you in your journey? This scholarship is going to help me in so many ways. School is where I thrive—it’s my strong suit—and having this support allows me to focus on my education and continue building toward my goals. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity, and I want to give my deepest thanks to everyone who made it possible.
What do you love about working in the hospital? Right now, I’m working on the med-surg floor at Via Christi here in Manhattan, and I’m really enjoying it. The experience has been great, and it’s helping me grow as I continue my nursing education at Manhattan Area Technical College.
