Emma Wolfe: Gaining Experience While Making a Difference

22

Emma Wolfe, a freshman at K-State studying Integrative Human Sciences, is already taking proactive steps toward her goal of entering the Wichita State Pathway to Nursing program. By volunteering in the Birth and Women’s Center, Emma is combining her desire to help others with gaining crucial experience in a hospital environment.

“I love helping others and it allows me to be in a hospital setting as I prepare for nursing school! … Even just saying ‘have a great day’ can be meaningful to someone.”

The Birth and Women’s Center provides a unique opportunity for Emma to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. “I get to hear people’s stories and experiences,” she says. She finds that even simple acts of assistance show the valuable impact of volunteering.

Emma highlights that no two volunteer shifts are the same: “Every time you volunteer, you have a different experience. You are always seeing new people and even just saying ‘have a great day’ can be meaningful to someone.” Emma’s dedication ensures that every person she encounters feels seen and appreciated.
