Payton Henderson: Small Acts, Big Impact

24

Payton Henderson, a junior at K-State studying Biology on the pre-med track, is applying his dedication to service on the Med/Surg unit. For Payton, volunteering is about actively serving his community and ensuring patients, particularly those recovering from surgery, have the best possible hospital experience.

“It is the simple things that I can do for the patients that are meaningful… I know I am positively impacting their stay here.”

— Payton Henderson, K-State Junior & Med/Surg Volunteer

Payton finds meaning in the “simple things” he can do for patients. These acts of service are crucial to their comfort and well-being. Whether it is ensuring patients receive their food and water, helping them get comfortable in bed, or even just finding a good TV channel to watch, Payton knows these efforts are vital.

He wants others to know how deeply rewarding this work is, stating, “I think volunteering here is very rewarding to me because I know I am positively impacting their stay here.” Payton’s focus proves that sincere attention to a patient’s daily needs is a powerful form of care.
