Honoring the Cornerstones of Our Community
The Manhattan Community Health Foundation believes that a healthy community is built upon the dedication of visionary leaders. The Cornerstone of Community Health Award recognizes individuals or families who have demonstrated impactful leadership to promote local wellness through inspiration, innovation, and collaboration.
Inaugural Recipient: Mary Lindquist & Family (2026)
We are honored to name Mary Lindquist and her family as the first-ever recipients of the Cornerstone Award. Mary’s life was defined by courage and an unwavering dedication to the people of Manhattan.
Following her passing in 2007 after a courageous six-year battle with cancer, her family transformed their grief into a catalyst for community health. In 2008, they established the Mary Lindquist Auxiliary Scholars program.
A Legacy of Impact:
- Investing in Innovation: The program created a unique endowment focusing on specialized training and continuing education for existing healthcare professionals.
- Building Partnerships: This initiative brought together the Lindquist family, the hospital Auxiliary, and community donors to create a sustainable solution for our workforce.
- Championing Equity: By removing financial barriers for hospital associates, the scholarship ensures high-quality care remains accessible and “close to home” for every Manhattan resident.
Mary’s legacy continues to ensure that our hospital associates have the skills and knowledge to serve all patients with the excellence they deserve.
