MANHATTAN, KS – The Manhattan Community Health Foundation (MCHF) is proud to announce the 15 deserving recipients of the annual Mary Lindquist Auxiliary Scholarship. The scholarship program, established in 2008, continues Mary Lindquist’s legacy by supporting the professional development of Ascension Via Christi Hospital Manhattan (AVCH-M) associates in health-related fields.
This summer, the Scholarship Committee received 15 applications and chose a group of deserving associates whose educational goals align with the mission of AVCH-M. The scholarship offers up to $1,000 per calendar year to full-time and part-time associates seeking to advance their careers through additional education, continuing education, professional conferences, or related educational expenses.
The recent 2025 Mary Lindquist Auxiliary Scholarship recipients are:
- Lauren Newell: An RN Circulator in the Operating Room requesting funds for Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification and prep courses. Her goal is to advance her career and provide safe patient care.
- Annette Conrow: A Nurse Manager in Medical and Surgical requesting funds for the AMSN Conference registration and hotel. Her goal is to stay current with the latest clinical practice guidelines.
- Jeremiah Heck: An Operating Room-RN requesting funds for Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification exam fees and prep materials to gain a deeper understanding of daily procedures.
- Maggie Baumgartner: A Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department requesting funds for tuition toward her Family Nurse Practitioner degree at Walden University.
- Sara Shea: A Pharmacist requesting funds for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) continuing education program to maintain her Pharmacotherapy board certification.
- Tamica Smith: A Telemetry Tech in the Intensive Care Unit requesting funds to obtain her CNA license at Manhattan Area Technical College.
Additionally, nine physical and occupational therapists in Rehabilitation Services were awarded scholarships to attend an in-person shoulder course to enhance their skills and improve continuity of care. The recipients from this department are:

These scholarships are a direct message of support to our dedicated healthcare workers and the patients they serve at Ascension Via Christi Hospital Manhattan. It is a testament to Mary Lindquist’s enduring legacy of caring for both employees and patients in our community
