“People should know that volunteers are respected and appreciated. You can meet new people and have fun doing it.”

— Judy Lookhart, Hospital Volunteer

With 25 years of service under her belt, Judy Lookhart has been a cornerstone of the Ascension Via Christi Hospital Manhattan volunteer program. Having just celebrated her 80th birthday, Judy has taken on various roles over the years and is currently known as the “bag lady,” keeping our patient experience and orientation bags ready to go.

For Judy, volunteering is all about meeting new people and feeling a sense of purpose. “I like meeting and getting to know new friends, and feeling like I am helping,” she says. She knows her efforts are valued when patients, visitors, and employees stop to thank her just for being there.

Judy believes that others in the community should know how respected and appreciated volunteers are. It’s a fantastic way to meet new people and have fun while making a difference.
